Easter – Another Easter, another way!

Each year in the Spring, Christians around the world celebrate Easter – each in their own way.  Some gather at sunrise on Sunday, some gather late in the evening the night before, and others throughout the day of Easter.  Whenever Christians gather for Easter we celebrate the same thing – Jesus Christ, our Savior, has risen from the dead and has conquered sin and death!  The age old cycle of sin has been broken and we are led into new life.  At some churches new members are baptized into this new life for the first time, at the rest, we are reminded that each of us was buried in the waters of Baptism to rise into the new life in Christ.

Through Christ’s resurrection, God the Father has ratified a new covenant with humanity.  We are no longer slaves to the old law.  By our Baptism we are incorporated into the Risen Body of Christ.  The old law has been fulfilled and we are now living in the freedom of the new life in Christ.  Our life in Christ, our participation in the Resurrection is guided and animated by the Holy Spirit.  We are now living another way.  Through our incorporation into the Resurrection by Baptism, we have been turned toward the Father, following the Son, on a path lit and guided by the Holy Spirit.  We have been set on a journey by another way.

Every journey is unique, but the destination is the same – the glory of a world living in Resurrection light, where sin and death are no more and love, light, and joy have no limits.  How we get there, what path we take, is less important than the destination.  The Diocese of the Epiphany, as part of Christ’s Catholic Church, exists to provide another way for those seeking to stay on the path in the Catholic tradition.  We offer to be companions on the way, fellow seekers, and instruments of the light of the Holy Spirit.  As we celebrate this central feast of our faith, let us pray for one another, walk with one another, and know that another Easter has come to show us that we have set out on another way!
